==========================================================================
Dear Registrant,
Please find below logistical details for the AIPW. It is important
that you make hotel reservation as soon as possible, and to let us
know that you have done so. Please feel free to contact us for
additional information, or in case of complications of any nature.
The deadline for hotel reservation is June 20. The failure to do
so may result in you having to find your own accommodation. In case
you do plan to arrange for your own accommodation, let us know by
June 20 too.
Additional action on your part is to let us know whether you would like to present your work related to the workshop theme. We have allocated 7 hours for such presentations. Presentations by both senior and junior participants are strongly encouraged! You can select 15 min, 30 min and 45 min length. Please send us your title and requested length. The deadline for doing so is June 20.
Sincerely,
Your SOC and LOC members

VISA REQUIREMENTS
For most countries the visa is not required. But please do check this page.
TRAVEL TO DUBROVNIK
BY AIR
There are direct connections with many major European airports including
London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Brussels, Madrid. In addition,
there are several flights per day to/from Zagreb, which is also well
connected to major airports. The airport website is
http://www.airport-dubrovnik.hr/m/index_e.php
Once at the airport, you can take a taxi to get to the hotel. Taxis are available 24/7 and the fare per trip (up to four passengers) is EUR 34.
A cheaper option for individual travelers is to take the airport bus (schedule tied to arriving flights) to downtown (EUR 7 per passenger). From downtown it is about 30 mins walk, or you can take public bus (ask for the line that goes to Hotel Park - Lapad)
BY TRAIN
One can't get to Dubrovnik by train, but fairly decent connections
to Split exist. From Split to Dubrovnik you can take a boat (slow but
enjoyable), or a bus (which takes 4.5 hours). Croatian Railroads official
pages are at
http://www.hznet.hr/.
BY BUS
Cheap but takes forever. If you don't mind a very curved road, the sights
are great. For schedule please see
http://www.dubrovnik-online.com/english/transportation_coach.php
BY BOAT
There are international and coastal ferry lines arriving and departing
from Dubrovnik. Jadrolinija is the main Croatian passenger ferry company,
with the highest number of regular international and domestic lines.
Relevant international ferry lines are Zadar-Ancona, Split-Ancona and Dubrovnik-Bari. Along the Adriatic Coast, you can take a boat from Rijeka and Split.
EXCHANGE RATES
1 EUR = 7.26 Kn
1 USD = 5.67 Kn (Exchange rates on May 17, 2006)
Kn stand for kuna (pronounced as koo-nah), the Croatian currency named
after a moderately cute rodent.
REGISTRATION FEE
The registration fee will be 120 EUR (to be paid upon the arrival). We will not be able to accept credit cards so please bring cash (no need for small bills, though).
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
We may have limited funds to support young colleagues. However, our funding request to the NSF for this purpose is still pending. We will inform the recipients in timely manner. At the very least, we hope to be able to waive the registration fee cost for all graduate students.
