APO/MRO Guider Acquisition Chart Input List Short Instructions: To FTP in an input list: 1--> ftp ftp.astro.washington.edu 2--> login as anonymous 3--> cd incoming/apoguide 4--> put Then go to the web form to let apoguide know that you have put an FTP file there. If you are FTPing an input list to UW, any notes and comments for this input list may appear above the dashed line; do not bother to delete all these comments as they will be ignored by the processor. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Instructions: For each intended target, supply the targetname, RA DEC (J2000), Instrument, InstAng, and DSS file (optional) in the table at the bottom of this file. When you're done FTP them and then submit form at the guide chart request form at http://www.astro.washington.edu/apoguide. WARNING: Do not use TABs at all in your table! TABs may look okay in your editor window, but it will confuse the processor and your job will fail. If you get an error like "% Variable is undefined: DI.", check your input list for TAB characters. Targetname may be any designation (this field, stripped of all non-alphanumeric characters will be used as a filename, so each entry should be alphanumerically unique.) RA,DEC must be in sexagesimal format in J2000; spaces or colons may separate the numbers. Instrument may currently be only DIS, DSC, GRIM, or SPI for APO charts and MRO for MRO charts (sorry, TBIRD doesn't fit...) If you just want a generic finding chart, not specific to any instrument, you may enter FC in this field. I you do, specify the field size (in arcmin) instead of InstAng! InstAng is the user Instrument Angle, typically 0 for these charts. The main reason I can see for not using 0 here is if you need to have the InstAng set at a specific value for science reasons. Note that if you put FC in the instrument column, use this InstAng column to specify the desired field size (2 to 60 arcmin). For DSS File, use autofetch. Do not remove the column headings or the dashed lines below!! The processor uses these to determine that the comments are over and the data begins. In case you were thinking otherwise, let it be clear that each field must fit in the space allotted by the dashed lines (going beyond the space allocated for each column is a good way to make things go wrong). And again, don't use TABs! Also, usage of special characters in the Target Name (periods, commas, pluses etc.) may cause problems.
