"... I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange."
                                    -Dale Cooper, Twin Peaks

I'm a fifth year graduate student in Astronomy at the University of Washington, where I study the atmospheres of cool stars through both observation and theory. In the links above, you'll find information on my thesis, current and past research projects, and a list of publications.
In my non-copious free time, I draw and write comics, and write science contributions for Seattle Weekly. You can see some of my non-work under the Art link in the menu above.
I am currently teaching English 199: Interdisciplinary Writing in the Natural Sciences. I am also involved in the Astronomy Learning Initiative, which allows us to evaluate the Astronomy Department's undergraduate teaching practices and track their effectiveness in preparing students for a career in astronomy.
