Title: Radio Cores, Jets and Stars in Nearby Galaxies
Abstract:
The Palomar survey has served as a basis for the study of
nuclear activity in nearby galaxies. Results show that there
is a plethora of activity as probed by the spectral-line
characteristics. We here present our results on the follow-up
radio surveys of galaxies classified as LINERs and composite,
with special emphasis on possible low luminosity AGN activity.
In a broader context, the Palomar radio luminosity function is
compared with selected samples of Seyferts and moderate redshift
AGN. We also present our preliminary results on the detection and
modeling of some of the smallest extragalactic jets known, produced
in composite galaxies. Finally, we present our project aimed at
studying the relative contribution of circum-nuclear stars to
the spectra of low luminosity AGN.
