Abstract:
New large scale photometric and dynamical surveys of Galactic
tracers have allowed us to explore the distribution of mass in
the Milky Way and its satellites. Dynamical tracers ranging
from open clusters to dwarf spheroidal satellite galaxies are
used to study the amount and distribution of Galactic
mass. We compare recent findings to the predictions of current
cold dark matter (CDM) models, and find that the data yield
some unexpected results compared to the predictions of current
CDM models.
