Title: Analysis of Field RR Lyraes in
the Solar Neighborhood: The Oosterhoff Dichotomy
Abstract:
The Northern Sky Variability Survey (NSVS) contains a complete
census of variable stars to within ~7kpc, centered about the Sun.
This survey also probes the Galactic inner halo and thick disk
components. A catalog of ab-type RR Lyrae stars (RRab) has been
produced. The photometric data from the NSVS allowed us to calculate
the periods, amplitudes, mean magnitudes, Fourier decomposition
parameters, and photometric metallicities for a sample of 1189 RRab
stars. I will present the findings of the Oosterhoff Dichotomy
trends observed from our magnitude limited sample.
