Abstract:
NASA Education and Public Outreach (E/PO) programs have undergone dramatic
changes in the past three years as the agency has reorganized and started
major new programs such as the Explorer Schools and Explorer Institutes.
Change has continuted with the establishment of the Science Mission
Directorate from a merger of the Space and Earth Science Enterprises and
the education programs associated with them. My talk will focus on what's
happening with NASA E/PO programs and the opportunities for astronomers
and earth scientists to obtain materials and funding for E/PO activities
that suit their interests. Incidentally, some of the new E/PO programs
include a major emphasis on diversifying the science and engineering
workforce.
