Dolomiti - July 15-22, 2005

Tre Cine - Alex Huber's 80m (!?) 8b (5.13d) roof is at the bottom of the middle tower - we didn't climb the Tre Cine this year, but we already have plans for next year... Cinque Torri - Torre Grande; Via Miriam goes on the left side under the big roofs Our first route, Via Miriam (V+, 180m) - picture from pitch 2 anchors underneath the roof Uros climbing the third pitch of Via Miriam Past the big roofs on pitch 4

Victory at the top You think you've climbed something... but then you look across the valley and Tofana Di Roses makes you feel very very small... Some very cool-looking faces... Second route of the day in Torre Romana More cool-looking faces and spires

On the Cinque Torri plateau Relaxing at Torre Grande Via Miriam from below - you can see the big ass roofs we traversed under Rapelling off of the towers is super fun...

View from the Cinque Torri plateau Rapelling yay! Torre Grande - Johnny doing the first pitch of a 6c+ (5.11b/c) route that him and Uros sent on the last day Top of Torre Grande - you rappel into the hole! Top of Torre Grande, other side with Tofana di Roses

Torre Falzerego - Marjeta climbing the arete Marjeta and Valerija on top of Picolo Torre Falzerego View from Grande Torre Falzerego Cinque Torri from Paso Falzerego Lagazuoi - Katja on pitch 3 which may have felt like 5.8 in the 1940's, but feels harder if you're used to sport climbing...

At the top of Lagazuoi View from Lagazuoi with Marmolada on the left Discussing plans for the next day... Our final route - Ada, V+, 400m - possibly the coolest route we climbed all week Where does it go?

First pitch - Uros belaying and me at the crux - this was supposed to be a shitty pitch, but as hard as I tried I couldn't find the shittiness anywhere, the pitch was absolutely awesome Uros coming up to the belay on the third pitch Leading on pitch 4 Uros following on the best pitch of the route - perfectly vertical and exposed on huge holds... sweet sweet climbing Some of the belay stations were fabulous

Katja and Valerija at the belay Valerija on a pretty sweet traverse... Uros approaching the technical crux of the route Shit, where are we going? Finally at the top - we beat the storm!

Descend down an old WWII path... ... past some bunkers and tunnels... In case you didn't notice them before...
